Why -> hold? Wen poap?

The following is a quick informal guide targeted at spreading some info.
Reference for terms:The POAP Glossary

Hi all!! This Frankie of the Curation Body.
Writing this post to give you more insight on why Curation puts hold on petitions.

If you haven’t received a confirmation email, or If you’ve ever come to discourse to defend a petition
→ You’ve experienced a hold.

The Curation Body existence ensures that drops are reviewed in a holistic manner.
Our job is to ensure the quality of the protocol, not to act as gate-keepers.
Our review process is actually done by humans!! Shocking right?
We do this to ensure a high level of integrity in drops; circumstances regarding drops are often not binary.

A drop is placed on hold for a variety of reasons.
We are going to explore the most common reasons your drop is most likely being held for.

Types of reviews:

  • Positive:
  1. A positive review indicates your drop has been processed.
  2. Meets most of our criteria & guidelines.
  3. Considered a good use-case of POAP.
  • Negative:
  1. A negative review means your drop has not been processed.
  2. Does not meet enough guideline criteria. In most cases this is final.
  3. It possibly violated the spirit of POAP.

Note: A majority of POAPs are positively processed after being requested.

  • RFI ( Request for more information) :
  1. You need to provide more information to the POAP Curation Body.
  2. Curation does not understand the nature of your drop & how you are going to distribute the POAPs.
  3. In your petition, make sure you attach an appropriate website link.
(Ideally this link should lead Curation to all relevant information we should have on your community. )

How appeals on Discourse should be structured:

  1. Event ID:
  2. Community information (All relevant socials Twitter, Discord, Youtube, Websites, etc.)
  3. Nature of the event
  4. Distribution Method
  5. Why do you believe this petition is being held?

Rule of thumb: Keep all information simple & direct.
This makes it easy for curation & minters to understand what your drop is for.
“If you can’t explain it to a six-year-old, you don’t understand it yourself" - Albert Einstein

What to do if my petition is on hold?

  • Post on appeals using the template
  • Follow the guidelines from the curation body

Additional reasons a drop may be placed on hold or negatively reviewed.

Distribution: The method you’ve chosen to distribute your POAP is not the best fit.
The Curation Body wants to know more about how you are executing your drop
Curation also looks to prevent farming whenever possible.
For example, if you request a secret website with an easy to guess URL
→ Your drop may be placed on hold to evaluate a better URL or another distribution method

Description: ( Too short | Too Long | Missing Information | Not legible )
Anyone who reads your POAP description should be able to understand the context of the event.
Please make sure the above is true ( You can add inside references + jokes)

Artwork: (No effort | explicit content )
Please make sure your artwork is suitable.

We aren’t asking you to be trained designers, but please put the effort in!
( :x:Stay away from uncustomized stock photography + images :x: )

Here are some examples of good drops :white_check_mark: :
