Nature of the event:
We run a weekly webinar/virtual connects to help our community about Web3 & crypto related stuff
Distribution plan:
QR code
Our POAPs are approved/working and we want to distribute it to our members via website. QR codes would be really helpful since it would take time to give out links 1by1.
Curators approved all the mint links petitions. However, your petitions for websites were rejected.
Website is not the appropriate method for this use-case.
Websites are appropriate for small-ish events, in real life, with short-ish mint windows. Usage outside this framework (particularly in virtual environments) will tend to result in exploitation (farming).
–
For easy distribution, you can use Mint Links + Magic Dispenser. The Magic Dispenser is a dynamic QR code that you can display on any device.
It looks exactly like this and it changes whenever someone scans it👇
We agree with everything you said minus that our use case is for exploitation or farming
We want to give our users access to a virtual environment - we dont meet in real life often but we meet digitall every week. Why is Poap insisting on enforcing this rigidity for private events?
It doesn’t show up on the public list or impact curation.
It just excludes builders in the web3 space from using your features. Without a website we have to had send the links to each member using zapier. Why would you make us do this if we can just use a QR code?
It’s not that we believe that your community in particular will be farmed, but the entire POAP ecosystem has been struggling with farmers. That’s why we care about the distribution, and although there’s some friction in distribution, we ask issuers to collaborate and follow the guidelines.
Remember you’re using a public good and a free service.
There are several ways to distribute POAPs for virtual events and preventing farming:
1- By sending individual mint links
2- By using POAP.Secrets
3- By using Delivery
4- By using the Magic Dispenser
