The POAP Magic Dispenser, one of the most used distribution methods and an excellent tool for Sybil-resistance, has been rebranded: it is now called POAP Kiosk.
What’s the POAP Kiosk?
The POAP Kiosk is one of the easiest ways to distribute POAP mint links. It displays a dynamic QR code on any device (phone, tablet, laptop, etc.) that changes each time a collector scans it. All an issuer needs is a device and a stable internet connection!
Can I use the POAP Kiosk on multiple devices?
Yes! You can use the same POAP Kiosk on multiple devices. It’s simple: all you have to do is open the POAP Kiosk link on each device.
Can I use it for online events?
Yes! During a livestream, share your screen and display your POAP QR codes in a farming-resistant manner.
Please note
For in-person events: you should only display the actual POAP Kiosk on your device(s); never share the direct URL to a POAP Kiosk with attendees.
For online events: You should only screen-share the actual POAP Kiosk; never share the direct URL to a POAP Kiosk with livestream viewers.
To reiterate
DO NOT SHARE the direct link to your POAP Kiosk under any circumstances. Doing so may cause all your POAPs to be farmed.

Based on your experience, do you have any recommendations or best practices for other POAP issuers?
Congrats to POAP Kiosk, thanks to the team for your hard work, you guys did a great job!

I haven’t tried the QR code method for Drop (maybe I will try it again later lol) I have claimed similar Drops several times, Unfortunately, Poaps can still be farmed by using different device to scan or changing the IP. When holding online events, it can be a good way to increase the enthusiasm of the participants, and it can help the project/person to increase its influence.
Currently, the issue of QR code being farmed still exists. However, POAP Kiosk is much better in this regard than secret word.
Based on your experience, do you have any recommendations or best practices for other POAP issuers?
First, as @Fio said, DO NOT SHARE the direct link to your POAP Kiosk under any circumstances.
Second, I personally recommend not to place your QR code on the screen all the time. You can randomly select some time during the live broadcast and display it, which will better distribute it fairly.
I think a great idea for the kiosk would be to have the qr code be a rolling code where it takes several in a row in order to claim. This would prevent users being able to screenshot a single qr code and sending it to someone else as it would take several qr codes in a sequence in order to claim and the codes could roll faster than one could take several pictures. If teh codes could be expired quickly, too, say within 30 seconds of being displayed, then even videos captured and sent to farmers would likely not function as the flight time of a larger video would likely take longer than the expiration.
One function of a kiosk i’ve been pondering is one which can be left out in front of a location, such as an event, for users to simply walk up and scan the code with their phone to get the POAP, with each address being allowed only one from that kiosk for that time frame (be it a day, week, whatever).
Ideally this could be further progressed to a point where a kiosk, perhaps running on a cheap raspberry pi zero, could be left at great tourist locations, such as The Grand Canyon, or Foz do Iguaçu. The benefit there would be introducing non web3 users to the party. Imagine going to a major tourist attraction and there being this kiosk garnering attention. On the kiosk is a qr code to download the POAP app, the app could generate an address/wallet for the new user, with a single click of a button - no need to warn about losing the wallet etc etc, its just for POAPs and wouldnt want to scare the new user away). Then they use the app to scan the qr code and get an IRL accolade!
Bonus points if the QR code allows the user to take a selfie as the POAP image!! IRL souvenir.
Great feature
I think that’s easier solution for users.
Every thing to ease claim is good
I need new feature on POAP
Need to send POAP as gift for my friends.
Of course, sending the barcode to their email is a good idea, but it is better to provide the possibility of sending it directly to their wallet so that they do not need to do anything.
Hey @amir007_eth
Thanks for your feedback!
You could use POAP Delivery Delivery is a tool that whitelists Ethereum wallet addresses to be eligible to mint a particular POAP.
Basically, POAP Kiosk is a dispenser for Mint Links easy distribution (instead of sending unique mint links 1-1, users scan a dynamic QR code)
POAP Website is a great tool, but it has the disadvantage that the POAPs could be leaked. As it’s only 1 URL for all the POAPs, if anyone shares the link with non-attendees, all the POAPs would be farmed.
In conclusion: POAP Kiosk is safer than POAP Website, although Website usually doesn’t have farming issues in small-ish IRL events.
Dynamic QR codes are a good way to go, especially effective in small live parties and generally not compromised. However, if it is online AMA show dynamic QR code, it may also leak and can be shown in a shorter time.
It’s a good option to distribute poaps but in this method users need two device. One for attending and one for scanning the qrcode. I always used my phone to attend the calls and now I also need my laptop
It is very good and promising that Poap team is always creative and innovative.
The idea of a kiosk is very interesting to remove farmers, but is it possible to detect a system that has minted many times?
And the next thing, is there a possibility of downtime in its system? In my opinion, if there is a way for these two things, it will be great and practical.
This reduces the chance of farmers leaking POAP, a great optimization! Thanks to the team for your hard work! But there is a little doubt, some Android phones’ system has been deeply customized by OEM, the built-in camera may not have the function of scanning QR code. So can users use third-party camera software at this time?
I think POAP need to use on web version
Every where and every time without use any device
I think QR code can to use on web
Also maybe web browser extension is good idea like Metamask
Metamask has mobile and web version
For clarification, the QR code itself is dynamic, and POAP kiosk requires a real time internet connection?
If, I’m understanding the current implementation, a QR code is scanned by an audience member, a mint link is used, and a new QR code is presented for the next guest right?
And a use case in which the internet connectivity is poor/intermittent, or only available during certain time periods would present problems for POAP Kiosk? In short its not a single QR code which takes you to the poap servers to issue from the list of links?
So any thoughts on how to deploy poaps for example within a movie theater itself (throwing the dynamic QR code on the theater screen, you’d think would be cool, but internet connectivity is often bared in the projection room for various reasons)
