Thank you for everything you do. I love POAP.

Hey @BCGApes

Thanks for the info.
Curators made a positive review for 70 mint links.

How are you verifying participation?
We noticed that you’re requesting people to send a DM to get the POAP  Are you checking that those people are real voters?

The verification process, is time consuming.

  1. I go to the discord channel and copy the list of all participants who reacted to a post (ballot) with an emoji (vote).
  2. I take that list, then reach out to people via Discord and Twitter asking if they would like the POAP
  3. If they want the POAP, I then compare their Discord username against my list of people from step #1 above.
  4. If they are in that list, I paste them the mint link and ask them to do it as soon as possible.

It would have been much easier, just to have the 500 mint links, and DM the voters directly in Discord with the link, but I only had 50 then 70 total so Twitter was an initial route to get the POAP into the hands of voters who want it. I still have around 360 voters from the 24 hour snapshot that I would like to reachout to via Discord to give them a POAP.

Hey @BCGApes

I’m afraid that’s an engagement farming campaign.

When we say that POAP is an ecosystem for the preservation of memories, we intend for POAPs to be mementos of a particular experience. A part of the core value proposition of POAPs is that they are a souvenir your get simply for doing something you generally like to do in your life – there is no particular transactional incentive.

“Engagement farming” is generally defined as issuers using POAPs in a way that incentivizes transactional behavior. Any statement to the effect of “Do X to get a POAP” – particularly where X is an action that boosts performance in social media algorithms – is basically a marker of engagement farming.

“Like to get a POAP”
“Follow to get a POAP”
“Tweet about it to get a POAP”

these all violate curation body guidelines on proper usage of POAP.

I’m sorry but we can’t issue more POAPs for this use case.

Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

All the best,
The POAP Curation Body

Thank you.

The participants (voters), were/are not told, prior to their participation (vote), that they would be the recipient of a POAP for their participation. The vote or emojicon is where the list of participants is stored, in Discord, for retrieval by myself, to determine who participated and gets a POAP distributed.

To be clear. Participants were never told, prior to the event, that they would get a POAP for participation. Participants were told, after the event, that they could acquire a POAP if so desired.

This project and event is a lifetime event for thousands of us and we would like to use POAPs to preserve that memory.

I ask that the curation body reconsider its decision.

Thank you kindly.

BCGApes.
