Web 3 positive fashion band entering the metaverse via an interoperable wearable.

3. Distribution plan
Airdropping the POAP to individuals who can solve a riddle, and submit the correct answer together with their name, email and wallet address via a Google Form.

4. Why do you believe this petition is being held?
With the expectation of this POAP Proposal being declined, we have steered clear of the use of Secret Word, in favour of a controllable drop from the BNV side through use of a Google Form. We highly wish to avoid farming and are open to suggestions.

Curators made a negative review of your petition.

When we say that POAP is an ecosystem for the preservation of memories, we intend for POAPs to be mementos of a particular experience. A part of the core value proposition of POAPs is that they are a souvenir your get simply for doing something you generally like to do in your life – there is no particular transactional incentive.

“Engagement farming” is generally defined as issuers using POAPs in a way that incentivizes transactional behavior. Any statement to the effect of “Do X to get a POAP” – particularly where X is an action that boosts performance in social media algorithms – is basically a marker of engagement farming.

“Like to get a POAP”
“Follow to get a POAP”
“Tweet about it to get a POAP”
…

These all violate Issuer Guidelines on proper usage of POAP.

The most important questions here are:
What the event is about and why do you consider it memorable?

If you take a look at our Quality Guidelines, there’s a mention of “unremarkable events”.

POAP can’t be used for engagement farming campaigns. POAPs as a reward for promotional activities (like generic social media engagement, or simply joining a community) are usually negatively reviewed in absence of further information for consideration.

Morning Julie,

To start, we respect the POAP curation team and indeed take this onboard, but this isn’t “do a click to get a POAP”. We intend to use POAP as a community recall tool. This is the power of the few Web3 “certificate” tokens that exist, to allow interesting use cases which bridge traditional social media, and Web3 community building.

The Attendance we aim to spark with this event is having a brand traditionally from Web2, and their audience, experience a POAP NFT minting process. Engaging with creating a wallet, and minting a POAP is a powerful tool in bridging that gab; a simultaneous education and celebration of an entry into blockchain and Web3 spaces.

As mentioned, we will be using a Google form, and investigating the wallets of those who attend, to avoid dropping the POAP to any farming accounts. The promotion element certainly exists, and future benefits of receiving a Francis de Lara NFT is possibly in that POAP holders future, but we will not be airdropping the NFT itself to your POAP Farming Community.

If you view the link I submitted, there are only ever going to be 10 Francis de Lara EVE Glasses to hold, but we are requesting 200 POAP to mint, as the token itself will be a celebration of those familiarising themselves with the growing fashion community being built away from legacy fashion in Web2.

None of these following elements are true:

“Follow to get a POAP”
“Tweet about it to get a POAP”

Completing the Google Form and solving a Riddle (not yet revealed) is how we intend to gamify the POAP achievement experience. We are not looking for ReTweets, Likes or Hearts of any kind, hence the Google form. This is all to avoid your farming community, but yes, we would like to use your tool for this event.

The use cases for POAP are very subjective, and I hope your reply isn’t merely a “no you can not have”, and I have made a valid case for approval. We aim to secure our distribution methods, but we do not fall into the “attend my birthday category” haha. We want to show the functional and utility element a POAP can have.

This POAP is even intended to be used as a criteria along side PREMINT.xyz, to welcome those who support traditional fashion entering Web3/metaverse platforms. Whatever these ethereal things become in their final form, this POAP will hopefully enter them into token gated experiences.

How is the approval looking for this Social Media Event, POAP Team?

Can you please be more specific on:

1- What the event is about?
2- Where is it?
3- Why is it memorable?
4- How do you plan to verify participation?

*If you plan to collect the addresses, the appropriate distribution method would be POAP.Delivery. Delivery is a tool that whitelists Ethereum wallet addresses to be eligible to mint a particular POAP. You can find more info in this article.

  1. The Event is about the narrative behind a fashion brand that is collaborating with our project. The art from the fashion pieces has been incorporated into a Decentraland maze, and the artwork which will appear in the media and content surrounding the Francis de Lara event.

  2. This particular Event will take place for 24 hours on Instagram in the form of a prerecorded message from the brand, and the delivery of a Riddle to the brands audience and the BNV community, and others who attend.

  3. It is memorable because this brand is embracing the curious methods that can be incorporated in the metaverse, to raise awareness of their works and of their fans.Fashion is not traditionally a tech industry, but that has been changing, and is now changing faster than ever before. Francis de Lara in particular among our collaborators is assisting in the education of their audience; encouraging the familiarising of wallet and token use cases, through their embracing of Web3 tools. We believe this is memorable and worth celebrating.

  4. We plan to verify participation through a completed Google Form asking for a name, wallet address, and a correct answer to the riddle and an ‘optional’ email address. Those who get it correct will later be airdropped the POAP via Delivery, though as I understand, a delivery can not be completed until after collecting a “List of addresses for Delivery”.

Hey @BNV,

This is correct. You should request the Delivery petition after collecting all the addresses.

Regarding the use-case: treasure hunts with pre-recorded videos are difficult use-cases for POAPs since it’s difficult to verify real participation. In this case, if someone solves the riddle, they can share the solution with another person or they can even fill out the form multiple times, with different wallet addresses.

So my suggestion would be that the form remains open for a short period of time (30 min max), and that you consider a way to validate real participation and that users are real people in some way.
Issuers must verify attendance of collectors at events and/or collector eligibility for POAPs.

The POAP Proposal form asks for the day of the event, so that’s why we are planning this for today.

To verify participation, we plan to review each of the wallets for activity that suggests a real person and real use of said wallet. To satisfy the POAP Curation team, we are also adjusting the Google form to request the participant to supply their Twitter or Instagram handle as an added deterrent to farmers and an added confirmation of “real participation”.

Yes, the answer is shareable, but they may get the wrong answer, hence why we decided a Riddle, and not directly handing out a “Key/Secret Word”. The verification of the participants will have been confirmed by us, the issuers, before delivering the POAP. We will check answers and wallet activity, and additionally the requested Social Media.

And to note, we are targeting a global audience, from Hong Kong to Europe, to West Coast US to Lagos. So we believe the 24 hour window of participation should stand for the sake of all time zones, 24 hour events have existed in the past. The leg work of confirming legitimate participation is on us.
