People DAO issues POAPs to members who vote on our Snapshot proposals as proof of participation in DAO governance. PIP1 proposed this tradition and received overwhelming support. We celebrate these members with a POAP.
One additional piece of information which should have been in the original post. We are participating in POAPathon’s campaign that uses pogs to advertise at ETHDenver. We opened a contest to designers. We received many great designs and we repurposed one of the runner-ups for this People DAO PIP1 Voter POAP.
The Curation Team has reviewed your request and concluded that this is not an acceptable usage of POAP. Voting just to get a POAP is not a good use of the protocol.
I respect the team, but I just want to make the use of the POAP clear. We know people in web3, our DAO included, love POAPs. Thus the core team at the DAO has been offering POAPs as an incentive to vote, but also a proof of voting which could unlock future benefits (aka, the most active members might be further rewarded or perhaps leaned on for other governance matters).
The Snapshot proposal I mentioned in my POAP request is the vote that actually set this tradition. So does the POAP team take offense to giving voters a POAP for voting on a proposal to issue POAPs to voters? Or does the team have issue with us ever giving POAPs to voters as proof of and reward for voting? Sorry if that’s confusing…
Yes, thank you. As I understand it, giving POAPs out as incentives to vote is fine, so long as the proposal isn’t regarding issuing POAPs to DAO members.
Hey @MatterTurbulent , apologies for the misunderstanding - I strongly suspect there’s been some sort of confusion. This process is still being worked out, so thanks for bearing with us.
I don’t seem to see your petition anywhere in the back end, but I suppose that might be because the snapshot integration is usually handled manually by someone on our team. On the other hand, POAPs for on-chain activity are commonly granted using POAP delivery; I’m not sure whether the Snapshot plugin will serve to link people who participated in previous voting.
